Maker The Movie: Reflection
Today, we watched "Maker The Movie." I enjoyed it because it taught me about what a maker really is and how the name and the maker movement have evolved itself and the world the years. It included videos and stories of makers from the past and their work ethics. One of the main ideas of this movie is that anyone can be a maker and that being a maker should be encouraged. Another is that we often forget that almost everything that we use has once been an invention, and we forget to value and support those people who make the objects necessary for our everyday life.
What is a Maker?
A maker is anyone who makes, invents, or creates new ideas or inventions.
How do you define a Maker? A maker can be anyone! You don't have to be extremely smart to be a maker. If you have an idea that solves a problem, then you can become a maker by pursuing that project. As the movie says, "If you are eliminating risks, then you are limiting creativity."
What is a Maker Faire?
A maker faire is a fair that brings many people together to share their ideas and inventions with one another. This year, we are preparing for our own maker faire!
What do you want to make?
I am very interested in biomedicine, so for my maker faire, I have been working on creating a prosthetic arm. I am also looking to create a cost-efficient prosthetic leg in my free time.
